№ 02 · Our promise

Taking a child into the world of the dinosaurs is something we take seriously. Our creative team works to a strict charter: the wonder comes from scale — one small child among the giants — never from fear.

The T-rex is real, but he's grumpy like a neighbour pulled from his nap: he snores, he sneezes, he grumbles. He never hunts. Every shiver ends in laughter, and the book is read at bedtime without a tremor.

, on every Valley of the Dinosaurs.

What we do

  • Gentle dinosaurs — curious, playful, and protective
  • Blockbuster scale — golden mist, silhouettes, herds on the move
  • A real stage-by-stage adventure — river, sky, cave, and the great stampede
  • A grumpy, comical T-rex — the thrill that makes you giggle
  • The baby dino who helps in return — we always make it through together

What we won't do

  • Menacing teeth, hunting, predation
  • Death, extinction, the meteor strike
  • Eruption hitting the characters — the volcano smokes in the distance, nothing more
  • Laboratories, jeeps, fences and weapons
  • Tacked-on magic — the wonder here is the sheer scale of the world

№ 02b · The book up close

Some children can say "triceratops" before they can write their own name. This book finally takes them where they've always dreamed of going — a valley where the giants are real.

Some children can say "triceratops" before they can write their own name. They line up their figures by species family, correct grown-ups on the difference between a diplodocus and a brachiosaurus, and fall asleep with a dinosaur book open on their chest. This personalised dinosaur book is made for them: it doesn't just show them dinosaurs — it takes them walking right through the middle.

It begins with a curtain of giant ferns your child pushes aside. Beyond: a vast valley swallowed in golden mist, diplodocus necks rising into the sky like living cranes, herds of triceratops on the move. Their name runs through every page, and their face — taken from the photo you send us — becomes the young adventurer on every illustration. That's them, small and wide-eyed, standing at the feet of the giants.

Then the real adventure begins: a baby dinosaur has lost its herd, and your child decides to bring it home. Cross the river on the back of a dinosaur lying like a bridge, soar over the valley on a pterosaur, tiptoe past a snoring T-rex buried in the ferns, shelter from a storm in a cave glittering with fireflies, and finish carried along by the great stampede all the way to the reunion. Ten stages, ten settings, one ending that earns its place.

Our creative team works by one non-negotiable rule: in this valley, no dinosaur is a monster. The giants are curious, playful, protective. The T-rex is there — but he's grumpy like a neighbour woken from his nap: he snores, he sneezes hard enough to shake the ferns, he grumbles. He never hunts, he never threatens. No snapping jaws, no real danger, no catastrophe: the volcano smokes quietly on the horizon, and every shiver ends in laughter rather than fear. That's what makes this book a bedtime read, even for the most sensitive children.

The story adapts to your child: 3–5 years for a gentle encounter with the baby dino and big moments of wonder, 6–8 years for the real mission where your child decides and acts at every stage, 9 years and above for the full expedition — map in hand, responsible for their little companion, arrival well and truly earned. A4 landscape format (29.7 × 21 cm), hardcover, 28 or 48 pages depending on the edition.

Express delivery in 7 days across the UK (10 to 15 working days for standard), or a PDF version in 24 hours for last-minute gifts. Any questions? Write to hello@realbigstories.com — we reply personally.

Buying a gift for a child who loves dinosaurs is easy. Giving them the book where IT'S THEM walking among the giants — that's something no one else will have.

№ 04 · One story, tailored to their age

Visual preview of the Little ones · 3–5 years archetype

A vast valley, a lost baby dinosaur, and [Name] who brings it home — passing right under the triceratops' bellies and past a T-rex with the world's loudest sneeze.

  1. [Name] parts the giant ferns: the valley stretches open, enormous, with diplodocus necks reaching all the way to the sky.
  2. A baby dinosaur has lost its herd. [Name] takes its paw: I'll bring you home — and the giants help them along the way.
  3. After the sneezing T-rex and the firefly cave, the mother dinosaur is waiting. The biggest hug in all of prehistory.

For every book, our creative team selects the arc that best captures your duo — the one you'll recognise the moment you read it together.

№ 05 · FAQs

The most common questions about The Valley of the Dinosaurs — answered honestly, with nothing left out.

Will the T-rex frighten my child?

No — and that's one of our strictest rules. In this valley, the T-rex is grumpy like a neighbour dragged from his nap: he snores in the ferns, he sneezes hard enough to shake the leaves, he grumbles. He never hunts, never bares his teeth, never chases anyone. The scene where your child crosses his territory is written like a game of hide-and-seek that ends in giggles — it's the thrill that makes you laugh, never the fear. The book is a bedtime read, even for the most sensitive children.

Are the dinosaurs in the book real species?

Yes — diplodocus, triceratops, stegosaurus, pterosaurs and T-rex all appear throughout the story, and young enthusiasts will recognise them instantly. That said, this isn't a documentary: it's an adventure. The species are faithful in their silhouettes and names, but they share the same valley in the way children imagine it. If your child already corrects grown-ups on the difference between a diplodocus and a brachiosaurus, they'll feel right at home.

My child already has dinosaur books — what makes this one different?

Every dinosaur book they own SHOWS them dinosaurs. This one takes them walking right through the middle. Their name runs through the story, and their face — from the photo you send us — becomes the hero on every illustration: it's them crossing the river on a giant's back, them soaring on a pterosaur, them being cheered by the herd at the end. For a child who lives and breathes dinosaurs, seeing THEIR silhouette at the foot of a diplodocus is the book no other shelf can offer.

What are the delivery times?

Our express delivery takes 7 days within mainland UK — the safe option if you need the book by a specific date. Standard delivery takes 10 to 15 working days when there's no rush. In a real hurry? The digital version (PDF) is ready within 24 hours of your order being confirmed. For international deliveries, allow extra time depending on the destination. You'll receive a tracking number by email as soon as your order ships. Any questions? Drop us a line at hello@realbigstories.com.

What size is the book, and how many pages does it have?

The book is A4 landscape format (29.7 × 21 cm when closed) — perfect for reading together side by side or laying flat on a table. The standard version has 10 illustrated chapters, plus an introduction and conclusion, coming to around 28 pages in total. The long version is nearly twice that, with 20 chapters and roughly 48 pages. Each chapter features a full-page illustration paired with text tailored to your child's age.

What's the print and paper quality like?

Printed on thick, premium matte paper. The hardcover is sturdy and the same high quality across all age ranges. The binding is sewn and glued to last — this is a book built to be read a hundred times, not to gather dust at the back of a drawer.

Can I make changes after placing my order?

Yes — as long as your book hasn't gone to print yet, which is usually within the first few hours after ordering. Get in touch as quickly as possible at hello@realbigstories.com with your order number and the change you need (a misspelled name, a photo to swap, a character to adjust). Once printing has started, we're unable to make any further changes.

What if I'm not happy with the result?

If something isn't right — a printing defect, a quality issue, or an illustration that doesn't look like your child — contact us as soon as possible after receiving your order at hello@realbigstories.com. We'll either reprint or give you a full refund, no questions asked. It doesn't happen often, but when it does, we make it right.

Are my photos and personal data safe?

Absolutely. Your photos are used solely to create your book. They are never shared, never used for anything else, and we'll delete them from our servers upon request. All our partners — payment, hosting, and printing — are fully GDPR compliant.
